Experience & Qualifications

I have inspected hundreds of homes in the Triangle area over a period of 15 years. They range from brand new construction to century old mansions. I am very familiar with local construction and with the types of problems that commonly occur in this area.

I am a licensed home inspector (lic# 610) and a licensed general contractor (lic# 37950). I hold an electrical engineering degree from Kettering University.

I am a charter member of the North Carolina Licensed Home Inspector Association (NCLHIA). We have monthly meetings to help our members stay abreast of construction trends and problems.

Standards

My inspections meet or exceed the standards required by the Home Inspection Licensing Board of the State of North Carolina and by ASHI (American Society of Home Inspectors). Reports are a narrative style and they are typically available the day following the inspection.

A inspector must make hundreds of subjective judgments when inspecting a home. I try very hard to be reasonable in evaluating home components. The age and general condition of the home is considered when determining if a particular condition needs to be resolved right away. Buyers are encouraged to be present at the inspection. It helps you understand the condition of the home and it gives you a chance to ask questions.

Training

Before beginning my home inspection career, I received formal home inspection training at the Home Pro Training Institute in Washington DC and completed several months of field training inspecting homes in the Raleigh area.
